I'm the General Manager of The Belasco in South Park, Downtown LA & a National Brand Manager for Live Nation Clubs. My role nationally is to help venues establish themselves as a positive & locally relevant partner in their communities across the country through relevant brand development & community partnerships. I'm the day-to-day manager at The Belasco managing our own brand, booking calendar & approximately 150 part time & full time local employees. I love rock music & reality television. I'm a dog mom to 4 little guys: Louis, Danzig, Cash & Waffle. I like to spend my free time outdoors or in Vegas & I still love going to concerts despite it being my job.
Los Angeles has many diverse neighborhoods, and you’ve chosen to invest here. Why The Social District?
I love my corner on Hill @ 11th. Logistically- we don't have as much of the space restrictions you'd have at a venue in a typical urban area. This makes the parking, eating, and lining up experience a lot easier for our fans. I've found the business in The Social District are generally more locally run & this makes the experience more unique for our touring bands.
When you’re not working, what do you love to do in The Social District?
Kings Games & riding Metro Bikes.
Looking ahead, what is your vision for the future of The Social District in the next 5-10 years? What are your hopes and aspirations for the community
There is some very noticeable development recently with the addition & approvals of some large residential complexes. I'm excited to see what businesses & restaurants will show up in the multi-use lower floors. I would love to see more elevated dining & shopping options closer than the ones on 7th. I hope to see continued development in the Metro system. The Pico & Historic Broadway stops are great, but the run times do not make them particularly useful to our business, which frequently closes between 12 AM - 2 AM. I hope that more late night dining, entertainment & residences will provide leverage to increase the security & schedules of the DTLA trains that connect us to the greater LA area.
How are you a part of shaping the future of The Social District?
In the last 5 years our event count has increased an average of 20 events or 18,000 guests annually. The Belasco & The Mayan are two of the smaller venues in the Social District & this lets us focus on a booking a larger quantity of smaller but more diverse events. I believe this gets a lot of people from the neighboring areas that normally wouldn't be downtown at all into the area more frequently. Our fans can bring business to the area on the slow days, as we frequently book 7 days a week, not just weekends.
The Social District hosts a lot of events, from awards shows to sporting events to concerts. What’s an event you’d want front row seats to attend and where in The Social District would you go before or after the big event?
I'm very simple- I just want to go to Monster Jam at Crypto again.
