Douglas will appear on stage at the historic (Sid Grauman built) Million Dollar Theatre in downtown Los Angeles for an interview with FIDM/ASU curator Kevin Jones about the making of this legendary 1939 George Cukor directed classic with costumes by Adrian and a script by Anita Loos and Jane Murfin AND featuring screen goddesses Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Paulette Goddard, Joan Fontaine and 100 more catty women! Following is a book signing with Illeana Douglas, facilitated by Larry Edmunds Bookshop.

A 1930s Vintage Evening Gown Fashion Show with Adrian flair, kicks off the festivities, followed by the book talk and signing. After a brief intermission, Adrian expert Richard Adkins will give a presentation on the fashion shows on film, mounted by costume designer of THE WOMEN – and THE WIZARD OF OZ.

Guests will also enjoy vintage vendors including Besamé Cosmetics, Little Treasures Vintage (Jewelry), a Perfume Bar (think "Spring Rain" and several vintage clothing dealers.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

“From recounting the firing of F. Scott Fitzgerald as the script writer and the pressure on Oscar-winning director George Cukor to keep his homosexuality a secret, and detailing the bitchiest conflicts between the all-female cast, Illeana Douglas has crafted a hilarious book on the making of The Women. The result is a spicy tale of how the meanest behavior behind the scenes led to a beloved, timeless classic. It made me miss old Hollywood.” – Susan Orlean, New York Times bestselling author of The Library Book
